In November 2023 we were contacted by St. Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby to discuss a rebuild of their website.
The call came in from their Head of IT and Digital Transformation, a person who we had worked with some years previously when we were developing a new GP website where she was their Operations Manager.
So, it was very pleasing to hear that we had done such a good job that first time around so when it came to considering potential agencies for the Hospice rebuild - we were top of the list.
Following the usual face-to-face meetings, and old friends reuniting, we gathered the required details and information for the new website, submitted our proposal and were as pleased as punch when we were awarded the project.
The Process
With a Requirements Brief in hand, and having reviewed and explored various options for the page structure and how the new content would be deployed, we set about producing a series of design mockups for the Home and Inner page styling.
Once the design was signed-off, updated content was provided along with new images for the build to commence.
Features and Functionality
The new design was approached from a mobile-first perspective to ensure that a user could easily navigate and find everything they required on their mobile phone device so the home page uses an easy to see image card navigation method.
Content sections use the core brand orange colours to emphasise areas on the page which helps to break up the text content making it easier to navigate.
In developing this site, and knowing that the team at St. Andrews would be working with us to apply the new content, we created a suite of content modules which each served to render content in particular ways with styling elements automatically applied thus minimising any need for coding knowledge.
We made it easy for Buttons to be defined and then connected either to internal pages or external / 3rd party websites or resources.
As much of the original content resulted in long and wordy pages, we provided an Accordion function so that groups of text content could be applied to pages and expand on-click to reveal the fuller text details.
One of the key areas of support for the Hospice is attracting donations and this required a versatile approach giving St. Andrew’s Hospice as much flexibility as possible to create new donor forms as required.
The Hospice already uses the Stripe Payment Gateway and so we proposed the DonorBox add-on which has enabled them to create new forms, with value options, that can be easily embedded seamlessly onto the website pages.
Finally, it was important to have an attractive styled News and Events function so that the team can share key events with the public and their supporters.
The client said:
“Working with Phil and the team at Purple has been a complete joy. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole project has gone through smoothly resulting in a fantastic new website. From “Going Live” our end users have shared such positive feedback with us. Should another opportunity come up in the future, we would happily work with the Purple Creative team again”
